With her many achievements, both academic and athletic, senior Morgan Whited has made her mark on Marion High School.

Whited has many academic achievements. She is ranked first in her class and is currently enrolled in six Advanced Placement (AP) courses. In addition, she is an AP Scholar with Honor. This title is given to students who score a three  or more on each exam and have averaged between a 3 and 3.25 on the exams.

Through most of her high school career, Whited has played in three sports; tennis, volleyball and softball. Whited had qualified for State in tennis since her freshman year. In addition, she received the “All-State Girls Singles” tennis award recognizing her as one of the best players in Arkansas. During the 2016-2017 volleyball season, Whited and her team reached the state championship game but lost. In the 2017-2018 softball season, Whited and the team were state runner ups.

Although much of Whited’s time is spent studying or practicing for sports, in her free time she enjoys typical teenage things.

“I like to read and go to the movies … I also enjoy juggling and unicycling,” Whited commented.

Whited picked up juggling and unicycling at the age of 10.

In addition, Whited takes part in many extracurricular academic activities. She is president of her graduating class, NHS and Mu Alpha Theta. Whited is very proud of all her accomplishments thus far, but she isn’t through yet.

“This year, before we graduate, I’m trying to branch out and meet more people,” Whited said.

With college on the horizon, Whited is spending a considerable amount of time filling out applications, applying for scholarships, and getting ready to leave her hometown. Currently, her top choices are Arkansas State, University of Arkansas and Ole Miss. But, wherever Whited goes, she says the patriot spirit will go with her.

“I intend to embrace the mantra ‘Once a Patriot, Always a Patriot’ wherever I go.”
